Fall in Colorado
Colorado Fly Fishing
I am currently in Basalt, Colorado spending the majority of my days floating the Roaring Fork River. As the summer is winding down and transitioning into the fall, the fishing has been great! Cooler temperatures and solid BWO and caddis hatches throughout the day have been keeping these fish active. September is a great month of the year to enjoy the fishing with minimal pressure and crowds on the river.
The frying pan has been fishing fair in the morning with small (sz 22,24) midges being the most productive until the mayfly hatch. In the afternoon there have been solid PMD and Green Drake hatches in the upper river. The dry fly fishing still continues to be productive during the hatch, but should taper off as we start getting cooler weather and water temps.
